About:
Low-key approachable coffee shop in a Food-Hall project in the Texas Hill Country.
Like a campfire or headlamp at night, this coffee shop was conceived as a lantern. As the first concept of the food hall to open daily, the space is centered around an island coffee bar. Above the coffee bar is a vertical element, inspired by old wooden vegetable + egg crates with missing and skipped boards, illuminated within by skylights and concealed light sources.
A lantern to help find one’s way through the day.

About:
For this premier KSA coffee roaster, their brand and coffee quality is about being a curator of amazing tastes.
Reflecting upon their talent and expertise, we designed a store to honor their strengths and make a ‘repository’ or ‘library of knowledge’. A place to share ideas and more importantly the best coffee from around the world.
The architecture is a collection of shelving, arcing through a long double sided space to connect it’s two entrances. An element that guides a journey.

Location: Chiappero Trail, Rosedale Neighborhood. Austin . Texas
Client: Cary Paul Studios
Task: Design two neighboring spec homes
About:
Austin has some lovely new spec homes and some not so lovely ones. Most spec homes are caught in a scale change with awkward roofs, an architect’s idea mishmash or black + white super scaled ranch houses.
This is not any of that.
Some say a quiet neighbor is a good one.
As a reference to an award winning house designed in 1953 by the architect Herb Crume across the street, the architecture is a nod to the his language of low slung roofs, wood ceilings, brick wall and indoor/outdoor spaces.
Each house is larger than those 1950s ones. 4 bedrooms, garages, with entertaining, storage and families thoughtfully considered.
Materials:
Warm White Brick
